Smoke Advisory Issued For Bay Area

Tens of thousands of acres have burned along with uncounted homes, businesses and farm buildings.

BAY AREA, CA - The smoke from wildfires in the North Bay has affected air quality for all Bay Area residents, prompting the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to issue a smoke advisory. Residents have been advised to:

• Limit outdoor activities to avoid unnecessary exposure if you smell smoke
• Set air conditioning units and car vent systems to re-circulate to prevent outside air from moving inside
• Reduce exposure to smoky air by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed, if possible
• If you cannot keep windows and doors closed due to high temperatures, seek out cooling centers in your area
• Stay tuned to local media for changes in smoke or weather conditions

Residents around the Bay Area started reporting the smell of smoke at about 3 a.m. fire departments are advising that you should only call 911 only if you see fire in your area.
