ELLINGTON, CT — This week, we travel to the north central portion of the state to find a classic Connecticut setting for classic American comfort fare.

Welcome to Chic's in Ellington, set back a ways from state Route 83 at 41 West Road, just over the Vernon line.

Chic's has been around since the World War II era, and its present red brick building was built in 1965, according to town records.

The restaurant is open at 7 a.m. for the early birds and serves meals through lunch — at 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The sign out front is a bit of what's inside — home cooked burgers, fries, hot dogs and sandwiches along with classic breakfast choices cooked to order.
