The latest Hidden Gem is a restaurant featuring America fare with a flair — like a made-from-scratch pumpkin creme brulee.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — It's fall, so how about a made-from-scratch pumpkin creme brulee? Another seasonal favorite is an order of ricotta apple fritters. The are both specials currently on the menu at our latest Hidden Gem, Anthony Jacks Wood-Fired Grill in Southington.

Anthony Jacks is tucked in a quiet little commercial area of Southington, 30 Center St. It's near the town green but also a bit off the main path. The restaurant has received many awards regionally for its American fare.

Heaters have been installed so brunch, lunch and dinner can still be enjoyed on the patio tables this time of year. Indoor seating is also an option.

Appetizers fill out every category and the crispy fried eggplant with shrimp, scallops and andouille sausage cream certainly is an eye-catcher.

Burgers come in several varieties. Another menu standout is the bacon cheddar meatloaf served with red-skinned mashed potatoes and brown gravy.

The sandwich and house specialty menu is extensive and creative.
