Hidden Gems Of Hartford And Tolland Counties

TOLLAND, CT — OK, hear us out on this one. The latest Hidden Gem is a small ice cream window tucked around the corner of a gas station.

A gas station?

Yes indeed.

It's at the Route 30 Xtra Mart in Tolland. The best way to find it is to look for the lines that start in the early afternoon on Summer days. Visitors can also look for the Old Post Road intersection of Route 30 because it sits on that corner.

It has a variety of flavors and is best known for its soft-serve cones. The ice cream window has been a favorite of the local for years.

It's certainly an alternative to the good-but-fancy ice cream shacks that tend to be more expensive.
