MASSACHUSETTS — From a discount retailer announcing closures to a facility that produces food products for Dunkin’ laying off employees, it's been a busy week in Massachusetts business news.

Discount designer retailer to close all MA stores

Both Saks Off 5th stores in Massachusetts will close, the company announced on Thursday. The locations at 300 Canal St in Somerville’s Assembly Row and at 1048 South St in Wrentham Village Premium Outlets will have closing sales starting Jan. 31.

Saks Global said 57 locations will close nationwide, while its five Neiman Marcus off-brand stores, Last Call, will close. You can find a full list of stores closing here.

Factory that makes Cape Cod Chips is expected to close

Cape Cod Potato Chips will end local production at its Barnstable factory on Breeds Hill Road in April. And, 49 employees will lose their jobs, according to a statement issued Thursday by the plant owner, the food conglomerate Campbell’s.

New boutique hotel opens in Boston with restaurant led by an award-winning team

The Atlas Hotel debuted in Boston’s Allston neighborhood at 40 Western Ave. this week, next to Harvard University’s Enterprise Research Campus. The upscale boutique hotel features 246 rooms and 12 suites and is slated to host two new dining options and a retail space.

One dining option, Ama, opened on Wednesday. The eatery will be run by the same team behind James Beard Award Finalist Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester.
