Cambridge Men Arrested On Illegal Firearm Charges

The guns and ammunition were reportedly discovered after a traffic stop.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The police department arrested two people related to illegal firearm charges earlier this week.

Patrick McGowan, 28, of Cambridge, and Christian Fauntleroy, 29, of Dorchester are facing unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition after police conducted a stop of the pair’s motor vehicle that Fauntleroy was driving in the vicinity of Central Square on Thursday, Feb. 5. According to police, officers decided to tow the car after observing several safety violations. While conducting a required vehicle inventory prior to the tow, two handguns and multiple rounds of ammunition were uncovered in an area of the vehicle that was accessible to both individuals. Neither McGowan nor Fauntleroy have a License to Carry or a Firearm Identification Card, making their possession of the items a criminal offense. Police later determined that one of the firearms had been reported stolen out of state, while the other did not have a serial number. On handgun was white, while the other was a darker color. McGowan and Fauntleroy were both arraigned in Cambridge District Court with their cases slated to be prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The charges both are facing call for a potential prison sentence of up to five years, with a minimum of 18 months.
