CONCORD, NH — Grand juries have issued indictments against two men who are accused of killing people in Concord within two days of each other in July, murders that rocked the capital region this summer, according to court documents. Joseph Hanright, 29, homeless, was indicted on two second-degree murder charges and theft by unauthorized taking, all felonies. He is accused of stabbing Marshall Villeneuve, 64, inside Villeneuve's apartment at the Crutchfield Apartment Building on Pitman Street on July 26 and then, stealing the victim's Mazda sedan in an effort to evade being captured by police.

A manhunt ensued for Hanright, a parolee with the long criminal history, and the next morning, police in Methuen, Massachusetts, believed he was in their community. After eluding police officers a number of times, including hiding in the city's sewer system, according to reports, Hanright was caught and arrested.

Two days after Villeneuve was murdered, Nathalia DaPaixao, 35, was beatened and stabbed outside her Edgewood Heights apartment building in a brazen, daytime attack. Her husband, Emerson Jaques Figueiredo, 42, of Concord, has been indicted on two felony second-degree murder charges.

Both murder charges against Hanright and Figueirdeo include knowingly causing and recklessly causing the death of the victims, "under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life," two separate murder charge designations.

The investigatory materials for both Figueirdeo and Hanright have been sealed by the court at the request of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.
