Police were sent to the area of Monroe and South State streets for a welfare check on a man who was experiencing a seizure and then, ran off. Officers found the man – later identified as Corey – and dispatch stated he might have an active warrant out of Merrimack County. While waiting for it to be checked, Corey allegedly stated that if he did have a warrant, he was going to “run and fight,” according to a court affidavit. “We advised Tyler that it would be best not to do so given that if the warrant was confirmed, he could be processed quickly and without issue,” the officer alleged. “Tyler did not appear open to this and continued to express his unwillingness to be taken into custody.” The warrant was confirmed – possession of controlled drugs (heroin), from Feb. 8 – and they went to take custody of Corey when he allegedly “immediately lunged forward and attempted to run.” They instructed him to stop but he allegedly refused and pushed the officers, according to a court affidavit, and he was taken to the ground. “Tyler continued to resist and clenched his hands tightly up under his stomach while refusing to comply with our directives,” the officers alleged. “Tyler also verbally stated that he would not stop fighting and that he was going to continue to resist until he was free to ‘go see his girlfriend.’ Tyler also made numerous other threats regarding biting my hand, and ‘blowing up’ Concord Police Headquarters.” He was arrested and held.
