Concord Log: Craigslist Companionship Ad Leads to Stolen Check Charge

Plus, truck driver reportedly nearly hits man, his son in a stroller while another man was arrested for damaging hand sanitizer dispenser.

John T. Conkle, 39, a homeless man now located in Concord, received a summons at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2015, for passing of items to or from the occupant of a motor vehicle, outside of the L.L. Bean on Fort Eddy Road. He allegedly took money from a car while police officers were watching. Conkle is due in court on Oct. 25.

Robert J. Duclos III, 44, of Ray Road in Henniker, received a summons at 9:42 a.m. on Sept. 15, for operating without a valid license. An officer was sent to Manchester Street for a motor vehicle complaint by a man who claimed that he and his baby, who was in a stroller, were almost struck by a truck. After speaking with the man, the officer caught up with the truck at a local business. The driver, Duclos, reportedly stated that he didn’t see anyone. A check yielded an expired license and he was issued a summons. He’s due in court on Oct. 26.

Tyler Whittemore, 18, of Kearsarge Mountain Road in Warner, was arrested at 5:13 p.m. on Sept. 14, for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Officers were sent to the Hitchcock Clinic on Pleasant Street for a subject who was “acting irrationally, screaming, and broke items inside the hospital.” When officers arrived, he had left the building but was found in the parking lot. According to witnesses, he allegedly punched a hand sanitizer dispenser that was mounted on a wall. When officers approached him, he allegedly began waving his arms around and tried to pick a fight with the officer. Whittemore was arrested and is due in court on Oct. 26.

Nathan Howard, 35, of Centre Street in Concord, was arrested at 8:21 a.m. on Aug. 13, for simple assault, domestic violence-simple assault, and criminal mischief. Police were sent to an apartment on Centre Street for a domestic. The man, Howard, had reportedly already left. The woman alleged that he started a verbal argument with her at around 5:30 a.m. about some accusations. She alleged that he shoved her causing her to hit her head. He later allegedly pulled a washing machine hose off a faucet causing damage to the hose and faucet. She alleged that Howard also threw coffee causing a mess around the home. The officer noted the damage to the faucet and coffee all over a wall, floor, and ceiling. The woman stated that she had a bump on her head and a headache but declined treatment. One witness said he heard Howard allegedly say he was going to “destroy” the woman. Police later found him on Storrs Street and he was arrested.

Chantel Labounty, 22, of Downing Street in Concord, was arrested at 11:25 p.m. on Aug. 12, on a theft by unauthorized taking or transfer charge. On June 26, 2015, an officer met with a man who reported a stolen checkbook with a forged check and pointed to Labounty as the suspect. The two met in February 2015, he stated, and three days before the meeting with the officer, she reportedly came by his home and stated she was heading into rehab. They talked and later, he went into another room for a moment, leaving her alone. His checkbook was on a kitchen table. That evening, he noticed two checks were missing but found one in the trash. The man contacted the bank to stop payment on the second check the next day but the bank informed him that it had already been cashed for $5,000. In the memo line, the check read, “boat.” A detective began looking into the case with the help of another detective, they were able to trace the cashed check to a business in Belmont. The business owner, according to the report, had alleged that Labounty had used his credit cards without his permission, withdrawing thousands, according to the report. He met her through a Craigslist ad where she was reportedly seeking male companionship although he “declined to elaborate on the ad or any terms of the companionship,” according to the report. “(He) informed me that the photo in the Craigslist ad was not Labounty,” the detective reported. He also denied having any type of intimate relationship with her. She allegedly asked him to the $5,000 check while letting her keep $500 of it, according to the report. The balance was to be used to settle her other alleged transactions, he reported. When asked if he had seen her, the man said he had, earlier in the day (July 5) after giving her a ride from her rehab stay the day before. On July 21, her probation officer reported that Labounty had violated terms of her parole and was deemed a fugitive. The arrest warrant was issued on Aug. 3.

Marisa M. Gable, 21, of High View Terrace in Manchester, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 12, on a bench warrant and a conduct after an accident charge from May 2, 2015, at the Steeplegate Mall on Loudon Road. She was arrested by Gilmanton Police. The warrant was for a willful concealment charge from December 2012.

Anthony M. Meunier, 42, of Fisherville Road in Concord, was arrested at 4:59 p.m. on Aug. 12, criminal mischief for allegedly cutting the cord to a vacuum cleaner that he owned with his girlfriend after a domestic dispute that their home.

Cameron D. Hough, 18, of Bay Street in Laconia, was arrested at 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 12, on a bench warrant from July 30, 2015, for nonappearance in Sixth Circuit Court on a possession/sale of a narcotic drug, $2,000 cash bail. He was held after he was unable to post the bail.

Kristopher R. Kelley, 36, of Bog Road in Concord, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 11, on two counts of violation of a protective order, criminal trespass, and default or breach of bail conditions. According to a court affidavit, on July 28, an officer received an email about an allegation that Kelley had violated a restraining order from jail. A woman alleged that he had sent her five letters in February, March, and April, reportedly admitting to breaking into the woman’s home but that he didn’t steal anything. She also allegedly received a phone call from him in April. The officer checked with the Merrimack County House of Corrections and found that he had allegedly made a call to her number on the date in question. A warrant was issued and he was charged on Aug. 11.

Nathan S. Wilson, 35, of Bradley Street in Concord, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. on Aug. 11, on a warrant from December 2014 from the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office on a burglary charge.

Jason W. McCormick, 38, of Manchester Street in Concord, received a summons at 10:05 a.m. on Aug. 11, for passing of items to or from the occupant of a motor vehicle at the Exit 13 interchange with I-93. An officer allegedly saw McCormick step into the road and take money from a vehicle. He had previously been issued summonses four times during the last two years and was issued another summons.
