CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire man with a lengthy criminal record is facing more charges after being accused of drunken driving again – and crashing a vehicle into a utility pole on Fort Eddy Road Thursday. Anthony Roesel, 27, was taken into custody after police were sent to the area around Planet Fitness for a report of a crash around 11 p.m. Police received a report initially of an intoxicated man being refused service at the Gully Hill Shell gas station.

A customer in the store called police, concerned for the man's safety, after he left the store, got into a black minivan, and left the area. About 13 minutes later, police received reports that the minivan was involved in the crash.

Roesel, whose last known address was in Tilton, has a lengthy criminal history, according to reports on Patch.

Earlier this fall, he was indicted in Merrimack County Superior Court on his fourth driving under the influence charge, a felony, after an incident on I-93 in Concord. Between 2015 and 2018, he was arrested in Concord on aggravated driving while intoxicated, DWI, endangering the welfare of a child/incompetent, driving after revocation or suspension, domestic violence, simple assault, reckless conduct, criminal threatening, and default or breach of bail conditions charges.

Roesel was also accused by police of being involved in an assault incident in Penacook in November 2017, an incident that was reported first as a shooting and put the village on lockdown. However, after a lengthy investigation, police couldn't determine whether a firearm was involved – although they accused Roesel of being the aggressor in the case and the other man defending himself, according to reports.
