NHSP To Hold Sobriety Checkpoint In Portsmouth
The checkpoint will be held in the city during the week of Aug. 6. Three people were arrested last week during a Portsmouth checkpoint.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Last week, it was local police; next week, it’s the New Hampshire State Police. Another sobriety checkpoint is coming to Portsmouth, according to Lt. John R. Hennessey of Troop A. State troopers will be holding a sobriety checkpoint, somewhere in the city, during the week of Aug. 6, 2017.
“A review of records has shown that the use of alcohol by individuals who operate motor vehicles has resulted in an alarming number of deaths and personal injury accidents,” he said in a statement. “The ‘sobriety checkpoint’ is one of the most effective methods of detecting and apprehending the impaired driver.”
