Three Arrested During Portsmouth Sobriety Checkpoint

Police: Hundreds screened on Lafayette Road on Friday night and Saturday morning; one driver possessed a BB gun that looked like a real gun.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Three New Hampshire men were arrested during a sobriety checkpoint enforcement effort by the Portsmouth Police Department, according to Capt. Frank Warchol. The checkpoint was held beginning a 10 p.m. on Sept. 2, 2016, and ending on Saturday morning around 3 a.m.

Arrested were:

  • George Hendrickson, 24, pictured left, of Portsmouth, for possession of a controlled drug.
  • Brian Tash, 36, pictured center, of Strafford, for operating after suspension.
  • Steven Marshall, 46, of Portsmouth, for driving while intoxicated.

Police checked 250 drivers on Lafayette Road near Mirona. Members of the Portsmouth Explorer Post assisted in the effort.

Hendrickson and Tash are due in court on Oct. 24; Marshal on Sept. 19.
