2017 Income Tax Season: Watch Out For Last-Minute Refund Scams In Virginia

Early-bird taxpayers have already collected their income tax returns, while procrastinators have an extra weekend to submit their tax returns in 2017. As tax filers race to meet the April 18 federal deadline, the Internal Revenue Service is warning Virginia and DC residents of last-minute phishing email scams, especially those requesting last-minute deposit changes for refunds or account updates.

Iraqi Refugees In Virginia Charged With Immigration Fraud

Three Iraqi refugees living in the Vienna area of Virginia, were arrested and charged with immigration fraud Tuesday morning, according to federal prosecutors. According to an affidavit, the fraud charges were filed against the three because they did not disclose their connection to a relative who admitted in 2005 to kidnapping and holding a U.S. citizen and others hostage for months.

Fairfax County police are investigating three bias-related incidents reported Monday involving anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim speech.

Video: Woman Steals $40K of iPhones at Alexandria Target

Fairfax County police are looking to identify a woman that stole over $40,000 worth of iPhones from the 6600 Richmond Highway Target in Alexandria. On March 15, the unidentified woman impersonating a Target employee got access to the Target stock room, took the iPhones and left the store.

Police have an excellent picture of the face of a man who is accused of pulling a gun on a 7-Eleven convenience store cashier in Northeast D.C. last week, and it's all thanks to the fact that he forgot to put his mask on until midway through the robbery.
