MA Patch Daily: Hot, Dry Air, Wind Brings Fires
Plus, Merit Scholars named, vandalism incidents reported, Tufts hunger strike continues, scenes from "Pippin," arrests, and more.

Happy Thursday, everyone! The weekend is almost here. Meanwhile though, things have been very busy at the 80-plus Patch.com community and news websites around Massachusetts. Here are some of the posts our staff has been working on:
The hunger strike at Tufts due to the layoff of janitors at the school continues. Tom Brady’s agent offers comment on the deflategate report. This man allegedly raped an abused, group home woman. This real estate attorney is alleged to have superseded indictment on a $1M tax refund scam. The Red Sox have fired Pitching Coach Juan Nieves. This man has been charged with the January 2014 murder of another man at a Boston convenience store. Wegmans is opening another store soon. An alert neighbor helped tip police off to this man who faces a number of charges including robbery. Who needs some summer fun?
Lastly, wildfires are popping up all over the place and some of them are burning out of control. It’s pretty safe to say that unless you absolutely have to, do not burn anything outside right now.
