Concord Police, In Hazmat Suits, Are Back At Former Airport Road Drug Den

CONCORD, NH — Concord police detectives, evidence technicians, and others were back on Airport Road on Thursday and Friday, reinvestigating a home they spent multiple days at in mid-March.

It is unknown why the police were at 58 Airport Road again and the department is not saying. But on Thursday and Friday, several officers, some in hazmat suits, were seen gathering evidence from the home and kneeling on the ground on the south side of the house. It also appeared police were digging around the yard and accessing the bulkhead and basement of the home. On Friday morning, a Concord General Services truck was parked outside the home.

It is unknown the exact time police arrived, but it was believed to have been sometime on Thursday. Residents in the neighborhood on Thursday afternoon did not know police were back at the home.

For most of the day, there was radio silence from police at the scene. But around midnight on Thursday, one officer radioed another and requested them to the scene, “Now.” After some back and forth, the officer at the scene said, “You’re not going home tonight.” They then requested two more officers to the home.

On Friday morning, detectives were in Penacook, following up on leads.

Deputy Chief John Thomas offered no comment on Friday morning, as he did in mid-March when Patch first reported several investigators were at the home.

The home has been a magnet of issues for several years.

It was previously owned by Todd Spataro, 57, a felon and resident who has been arrested more than a dozen times during the past two decades on various charges, including robbery, forgery, theft, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct, criminal mischief, disobeying an officer, violation of probation, and several acts prohibited counts.

Spataro has an active case in Merrimack County Superior Court involving three acts prohibited charges from February 2023 — after a direct indictment on April 17. He’s due in court on July 2 for a dispositional conference.

Acts prohibited and falsifying physical evidence charges out of Hooksett against him from May 2022 was nolle prossed on May 1.

Spataro also faces common nuisances, deal-possess prescription drugs, possession of a controlled drug-sale, and possession of a controlled drug charges, after an incident or investigation on Airport Road.

It is unknown if Spataro is connected to any current activity at the home.

Angela Spataro, a former resident of the home, was also arrested on trespassing charges at the home twice in March.

The home was foreclosed upon and put up for auction in September 2023, according to a newspaper legal notice from July 2023. The city’s online assessing site had the Federal National Mortgage Association owning the property in November 2023 and then selling it to MDR Rehab and Development LLC in November 2023 for $180,000. MDR is a house flipper out of Goffstown, according to the Better Business Bureau.
