Steven Eric Porterfield, 33, of an unknown address in Manchester was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 28 on criminal threatening and domestic violence-criminal threatening charges. An officer took a report from a woman on Eastern Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on May 30, who accused Porterfield of refusing to leave her apartment. Later, he was trespassed from the unit. About 11 hours later, the officer was called back to the apartment after the woman accused Porterfield of threatening her. According to an affidavit, Porterfield repeatedly texted and called the woman, threatened to “go and get a baseball bat and kill her,” and threatened to be waiting for her outside of her place of employment. The officer viewed the text messages — which came from Text Now, Snapchat, and cellphone text, but initially, could not confirm the Text Now messages were Porterfield, the affidavit stated. Then, the officer eyed other text streams, and “judging by the content, it would only be a conversation (the victim) would have had with Mr. Porterfield,” the report said. The officer called Porterfield and after some discussion, “He did not deny sending the messages,” the affidavit said. A warrant was issued later that day.
