CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire man was arrested on drunk driving, receiving stolen property, and other charges this week after a state trooper came across a theft incident in Ossipee this week, according to police. Daniel Driscoll, 56, of Northwood, was arrested on Feb. 15, 2018, and charged with receiving stolen property, driving while intoxicated, theft by unauthorized taking, disobeying a police officer, driving after suspension/revocation, and open container. At just after noontime on Thursday, a Troop E trooper was in the Valuland Food Store in Center Ossipee when he was approached by a witness that reported a grocery theft from the store.

“The suspect had already left the shopping plaza, however, the witness was able to provide (the sergeant) the suspect’s vehicle description,” according to Staff Sgt. James Forgarty of the NHSP. “(The sergeant) then notified state troopers patrolling in the area of the suspect vehicle description and theft complaint.”

A short time later, a trooper saw the vehicle traveling south on Route 16 and attempted to stop it but the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was found a short time later at a gas station in Wakefield and the trooper, Carroll County Sheriffs, and Wakefield Police took the driver – identified as Driscoll – into custody.

“The vehicle that Daniel Driscoll was driving was determined to be stolen out of the town of Northwood,” Fogarty alleged.
