Suspicious Person Call At Concord Hotel Leads To Drug Bust
James Michael Curran Jr., a homeless man, was arrested on drug dealing, possession charges; Stacey Young, also homeless, was also arrested.
CONCORD, NH — A report of a suspicious person at a hotel on Hall Street in late July led to a significant drug bust and two people being arrested a month later.
On July 28, around 9 p.m., officers were sent to the Comfort Inn at 71 Hall St. for a suspicious person call — a woman “acting strange” and “causing concern for other patrons.” The officers found the woman, Stacey M. Young, 39, a homeless woman now located in Concord, standing next to a Lincoln MKZ, an affidavit stated. James Michael Curran Jr., 36, a homeless man now located in Concord, was in the driver’s seat, the report said.
The reporting officer stated there were two bags on the ground near Young and they also realized they had a restraining order to serve to Curran, so he was served.

Young, when questioned by police, said she believed she was being “targeted.” The officer reported she was out on probation after being convicted for drugs and was questioned about the bags on the ground, a report said. Young was accused of becoming “defensive” after being asked about a backpack and saying “junkie stuff” was inside the vehicle. The officer accused her of acting erratic, possibly under the influence, and moving away from the bag.
While looking at the bag, the officer saw what they thought was “a works kit” — hypodermic needle plungers and tinfoil with drugs inside, the report said. Inside the vehicle, the officer said there was a glass pipe, with residue, on the shifter and two pipes in the compartment under the radio, an affidavit said. Curran was accused of denying using drugs recently but confirmed everything in the vehicle was his.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, the bags confiscated, and three search warrants were requested. On July 29, police searched the vehicle. They found several scales, paperwork for criminal charges in Claremont, and a myriad of drugs — including 49.5 grams of meth, 24 grams of fentanyl, 29.5 grams of hash, 219 pills, needles, and other items, a report stated.
Warrants were then issued for Young and Curran. Young was arrested at 5:50 p.m. on Aug. 22 on three felony controlled drug charges. Curran was arrested on one count of controlled drug-sale, etc., other and six possession of controlled drug charges, all felonies, as well as a marijuana-possession violation-less than three-quarters of an ounce.
Young was also arrested at 2:41 a.m. on Aug. 22 on loitering or prowling and resisting arrest or detention charges, as well as a pedestrian on the roadway violation. She was arrested after an incident on North Main Street.
