South Fork Natural History Museum to Host Mecox Bay 'Backpack Adventure'

The event will take place at Mecox Bay on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The South Fork Natural History Museum will be hosting a Mecox Bay Birding ”Backpack Adventure” event on Saturday, Jan. 10 starting at 10 a.m. for children ages 8 through 12.

The nature education event will allow children to observe both bay and ocean birds in Mecox Bay in Bridgehampton.

Leader Crystal Possehl will lead the children to help them identify and draw some of the wintering waterfowl in the area while looking for storm-tossed shells.

Each participant will borrow a SoFo backpack of tools to experiment with, including binoculars, magnifiers, sample containers, a magnet, a compass, and identification guides.

Guests will also get the chance to write in their own nature journal.

This program is limited to 10 children.

Materials fee $2 per nature journal, unless you already have one.
