Churches and nonessential businesses will be allowed to open at 50 percent of capacity, but restaurants must remain closed to indoor dining when the first phase of Virginia's coronavirus reopening plan begins Friday, May 15, Gov. Ralph Northam said Friday. Businesses with a permit for outside seating will be allowed outdoor dining at 50-percent capacity and table spacing, with employees wearing masks to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which causes the COVID-19 illness.

Coronavirus Case Data By ZIP Code Released In Virginia
The Virginia Department of Health has made ZIP code data available on cases of the new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19 illness. The ZIP code information includes case numbers and number tested but not deaths or hospitalizations. Residents can look at data by ZIP code, locality and health district.

Alexandria ZIP Code Among Top For Coronavirus Cases In Virginia
New data from the Virginia Department of Health shows one zip code of Alexandria is one of the hardest hit by the new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19 illness. The 22305 zip code, which covers the Arlandria/Chirilagua community and a northern part of Potomac Yard, has 330 cases and 608 people tested as of Friday. That represents an approximately 54 percent positive rate among completed tests. It's the ninth highest for cases among Virginia zip codes.

19 New Coronavirus Deaths In DC; Total Positive Cases Near 5,900
The D.C. Health Department confirmed 19 new deaths Friday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 304.
