Northam Urges Compliance With Rules Amid Hampton Roads Case Spike

In his first coronavirus briefing since June 25, Gov. Ralph Northam said he is encouraged that Virginia is avoiding a coronavirus surge seen in other states. But as officials monitor an increase in new cases largely attributed to Hampton Roads, also known as the Tidewater region, increased enforcement of public health restrictions is planned. Northam is considering actions such as smaller gathering sizes but believes enforcement of existing restrictions is the first step.

Prince William County police found several stickers in a Lake Ridge neighborhood Monday, at least one of which appeared to contain recruitment information for the Ku Klux Klan, the police department said Tuesday.

Fairfax County To Review 9-1-1 System, Rethink Police Response

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to review the county's 9-1-1 dispatch and response systems. The aim is to enhance Diversion First strategies so that unarmed medical, human services, and mental health professionals are dispatched in response to calls where mental and behavioral health issues are involved.

Subway Owner Nears Delivery Of 5,000 Free Meals Since Coronavirus

Vince Carbone, owner of a Subway restaurant in Ashburn who switched to helping nurses and first responders when the coronavirus crisis hit in March, is on track this week to reach 5,000 free meals delivered. The impressive milestone wouldn't have been possible without Carbone dedicating himself to the project, along with getting help from the many friends he has made during his 18 years in business.
