A rapper is singing a politically incorrect tune as he says Black Lives Matter is "literally a scam."
The singer is Lil Yachty who made the comment during an appearance on a cooking show with Quenlin Blackwell.

During the pair's kitchen discussion, Blackwell asked Lil Yachty: "You spent $100,000 on a trip to Disney once. How much have you spent on charitable causes this year?"

"It's just blurry, I've been doing so much," the rapper said.

"BLM?" asked Blackwell.

"BLM is a scam," the rapper said matter of factly.

"BLM was, it was literally a scam. They had bought mansions. You probably wouldn't know anything about it because you don't care about black people."

Blackwell responded as she caressed her arms: "I do care about black people. Look at my chocolate. You're mad."

"It's a disguise," the rapper quipped.

"I think I'm literally the most pro-black person in this room," she added.

"Because you have an all-white staff?" the singer asked.

"They're not white. They're P.O.C. [persons of color]," Blackwell replied.

Just this week, Black Lives Matter Plaza near the White House in Washington, D.C., was being dismantled by the city after the local government agreed to retire it due to federal funding threats from Congress.

In 2021, Patrice Cullors, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, departed from her role as the organization's executive director amid reports of enriching herself.

Cullors "decried what she called a smear campaign from a far-right group, but said neither that nor recent criticism from other black organizers influenced her departure," the AP reported.

BLM Global Network had previously offered a vigorous defense for Cullors in April 2021 after reports revealed she had purchased four homes across the country for a total of $3.2 million since 2016.

Part II - Additional Information with More Facts, Insights, Analysis plus Other Topics

Before diving into this segment that will provide more insights into BLM, some backgournd and disclosures are in order.

1) Barring Divine intervention, no one knows the future, right?

When a specialty trade publisher like MHProNews decided to publish articles on the BLM topic in 2020 and after, it could very easily result in some audience backlash. Some people can misunderstand the reasoning and purpose behind questioning the authenticity of the BLM movement, not realizing that this writer was raised with the Christian value that aim to support all people, including so-called minorities (every ethnic group is a minority somewhere on planet Earth).

My parents were immigrants, so, they were a 'minority' in the U.S. too. My parents walked the talk about equal justice and treatment for all years before the broader acceptance of the civil rights movement in America.

2) That said, following the tragic George Floyd riots in 2020, MHProNews published stories on the BLM, Antifa, and related topics. Why? Because to this writer there seemed to be more than sufficient evidence to support the notion that millions of people of all backgrounds were being callously manipulated for political purposes by men who often happened to be wealthy white billionaires.

3) So, when we saw evidence that was different than the mainstream media narrative, we questioned it, and reported accordingly to MHProNews readers. When powerful interests push an agenda, there has to be a reason. When powerful interests push an agenda that is intended to manipulate some part of the population, they have to have some goal or objective in mind.

4) Over four years later, those reports linked above and others like them have stood the test of time.

For some people they would still be news and important reading. Why? How so? Because it is instructive to the broader picture of how American society actually operates. Paltering (what seems like a half-truth intended to mislead or manipulate) is a method that exists and 'works' for a time because it is based on something that seems true. The death of George Floyd needs to be better understood, because it has been used to divide and manipulate our nation. But set that aside for a few moments.

5) How was it possible that a modest sized team (MHProNews) could accurately expose some items on BLM (see those reports linked above) that often big media missed or misdirected? There are many factors, but clear-eyed and truth-seeking research and citing sources accurately are part of it.

Roxanne Bland's advice posted below is often sound. She isn't literally saying 'forget what they told you,' she means, look beyond what was said. Look for the motivations and to do that, you follow the evidence which includes the money trail. That's what investigators do. They follow the money and follow the evidence.

6) Years before the BLM stories shown above were published on MHProNews, and they were quite popular at the time and still attract readers, there was a different matter that we as publishers were arguably hoodwinked on. But we tried to take that experience and learn from it. Let me tell you a bit of a personal story which is partially admission and partially lessons learned.

7) There are numbers of articles involving the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) on our website from 2010 to about 2016 that may have been technically accurate in one sense, but lacked some arguably necessary analysis and context that we only began to publish later. More bluntly, we have on some occasions goofed. More than just typos. We were frankly fooled by what we now see as MHI's ruse. That ruse by MHI was in some way similar to the trick used by the founders of BLM. It is not our goal to ever misinform or mislead a reader, but we were as fooled by MHI as some were fooled by BLM.

8) Those who follow us on MHProNews and have for years already know that we get some typos (sorry for when it happens, but it is what it is when you are seeking to bang out a lot of information in a limited amount of time). Thankfully, our longer-term readers know this, as the pro in a key spot in an MHI member firm kindly said this.

Mistakes happen. The question is, what do we do after we learn that we have made a mistake? Person to person, we may start with saying 'I'm sorry.'

9) Back to the admission. When you, I, or others feel 'burned' - in my case as a publisher - hopefully you don't forget. You hopefully learn the lesson(s) of why and how you were 'burned.' You work harder not to get blind sided. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

That's said to say this. I'd like to think that those operating in the darker side of MHI (there are good people and problematic ones in that trade group) won't pull the proverbial wool over my eyes again.

10) So, since we as a publisher began to realize that MHI was a scam (different, but in some way similar than BLM), MHProNews periodically shared with our readers the admission that we erred in trusting MHI and its leadership.

Organizations are made up of people, obviously. It is people (good, bad or usually somewhere in between) that can take an organization into a better or worse direction. An organization can begin innocently or sincerely enough and can later get hijacked. Did that happen with BLM? There are blacks and others who have said so. Did hijacking a trade group occur with MHI? There are manufactured housing industry pros, some in and beyond MHI, that have said so.

11) Restated, my own experiences at MHI reminded me in 2020 that as a journalist someone had to look beyond the window dressing of BLM. What was behind the curtain there, or at MHI, was not what was being sold to the public or their respective target audiences.

As a publisher, we want to get not only the facts but the analysis correct. Sometimes 'facts' alone can be misleading. That's what paltering can be.

12) Often, when we err, it is because we trusted someone or something that seemed to be good, but in practice, the group's leaders may or may not be what they dressed themselves up to be. That appears to be what happened at BLM. That is also appearently true at MHI.

13) That misplaced trust in some person or organization that didn't merit trust is how sometimes even massive scams like Enron, Madoff, WorldCom, Theranos, the mortgage/financial crisis, and so on occur. Something seems to be good. But over time, it is revealed to be an illusion. A scam.

14) Apparent trickery is the lesson of BLM and in our view is and has been occurring at MHI since perhaps circa 2003. They are different examples of the same principle. You can count on the fact that such ruses are occurring in other segments of our society. When Samuel Clemens (a.k.a.: Mark Twain) said the following, he knew this from firsthand experience. Clemens was purportedly a trickster himself.

15) So, on the surface it may seem like this analogy about MHI has little to do with BLM. But a closer look reveals part of a bigger pattern. BLM, say some, was hijacked. MHI, say some, was (and remains) hijacked. That didn't just hurt a few people. Both have created ripples of harms in their own way.

16) So if we accept that BLM was an apparently noble idea that was hijacked or a ruse from early on then we can begin to learn a lesson that goes beyond BLM itself. People of good will get hoodwinked. That's the common point.

People of good will got tricked, scammed, manipulated - call it whatever you want - into believing in something that was an illusion from early on. It has been that way for centuries. Who says? How about "honest Abe" Lincoln.

17) Like so many 'great' historical figures, President Abraham Lincoln (R) was a complex individual. There were good and bad things, as is true of almost all of humanity. But Lincoln did some difficult things and through those difficult years he helped the U.S. leave behind the scourge of slavery.

Slavery has been a vexing feature of human society in almost every place on earth from early in human history. Sadly, slavery still exists today. Some make the argument that slavery has only morphed.

18) This screen shot that follows is a still from the video posted in Part II #1 by Professor Carol Swain, a black professional and posted above. It is less than 6 minutes. Watch it.

19) Every field needs reality checks and critics willing to point out what has gone wrong. President John F. Kennedy (D), like Lincoln, was a complex individual with good and bad. Kennedy said that people have to be willing to (honestly) critique leaders and organizations. That insight is quite right.

20) Not only do organizations need honest critics, media need honest critics too.

Media, any media, should admit when they make a mistake. Who says? The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) code of ethical conduct.

21) Now, let me tell you. There are journalists and researchers willing to walk that talk above. Others, sadly, do not admit errors unless they are really, really pressed into an admission. I know that from several firsthand experiences with people in the news business. Some will admit an error, but oftentimes, most do not do so.

But we should not throw out the baby with the bathwater. We should not say that just because some in media are doing a less than great job that all media should be ignore. Trust should be earned day by day.

22) The way to get and stay credible, IMHO, is to: present the facts, present the sources, link or show those sources (screen captures, videos when appropriate, etc.), add disclaimers when needed, and try to deliver on your headline while avoiding hyperbole. There should be no need to exaggerate.

Keep it real.

23) AI powered Gemini praised the fact that we reported on thorny topics even though it meant going up against some of our own sponsors.

24) Much of that is to make this point. It isn't just us, there are others in journalism that are willing to do what's right by their readers. We at MHProNews are not alone.

25) In a curious way, if a past error is disclosed and admitted to, your audience tends to respect that fact. Of course, we lost some readers as we exposed problems at MHI that others were not willing to write about, but over time we gained others.

For example. After editorially asking publicly for the resignation of MHI's prior president Richard "Dick" Jennison and then EVP (now CEO) Lesli Gooch, Ph.D., for apparently clear evidence that they were essentially misleading numbers of their own members, prior MHI chairman Tim Williams wrapped up an MHI meeting with a call for a vote of support by their board. Williams did so with me present. Not one person was willing to publicly go against Williams. The MHI board voted to keep staff leaders (think Jennison and Gooch) who had demonstrably misled members in MHI's own email to their members. Wow. But there it was. Not an explanation of why they did what they did. Rather, they just held a power vote to show that they had the abililty to do what they wanted even if they were in the wrong. 21st Mortgage Corporation is a sister firm to Clayton Homes and a subsidiary of Warren Buffett led Berkshire Hathaway, see what Kevin Clayton had to say about themselves in a video at this link here. There have been periodic scandals involving those firms for years, as the Seattle Times, the Nation, and others have reported.

26) Back to BLM. These next set of claims that follow have not been researched by MHProNews. This writer is not taking a position either way. But it is useful to be aware of the allegations.

Deception and misdirection, per the Capital Research Center and other sources, can show up in surprising times and ways.

28) Note that AI powered Copilot was asked (on more than one occasion, an example is linked below) about MHI and its seemingly bizarre behavior. Copilot has proverbially wrapped the knuckles of MHI's leaders by that AI platform that say those leaders were apparently guilty of statements and claims that fit the definition of "lie," "false," and "misleading." Our main focus is "MHVille," but by way of yet another analogy, there is a split reportedly brewing among members of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) too. It is per a report smaller NAHB builders vs. larger ones. Hmm. The point is that such tugs of wars within an association occur, but perhaps not in the same way as it did with MHI.

29) Back to BLM and often white billionaires and their corporate interests fueling the BLM movement.

Having learned some painful lessons with MHI, this writer didn't simply accept the mainstream media reporting in 2020. We pulled back the curtain and looked at other sources. Those linked reports above are some of the results. Those reports have stood the test of time quite well as a result.

The takeaway? Sometimes a mistake can be turned into a powerful life lesson.

30) Back for a few more moments to MHI leaders and Tim Williams. After Williams led that vote of the MHI board (and he was a prior MHI chairman), he and I stepped out into the lobby area and spoke. I told him that from his viewpoint he played his hand well, but I told him to his face that they may regret keeping those people (meaning, Jennison and Gooch) after our reporting revealed that Jennison and Gooch had apparently intentionally misled MHI's own members.

31) My hunch is that Williams and others now understand why they should regret having kept those two (meaning, Jennison and Gooch).

Jennison has since retired.

But Gooch is still CEO despite an apparent history of problematic behavior, despite the "illusions" their leaders have attempted to create around her. As time goes on, it is now more apparent that Gooch was likely picked despite a history of problematic behavior before joining MHI. It seems that MHI insiders must have wanted someone like her. 32) Is there a similar analogy unfolding around BLM? Time may tell. But it seems to be true, and thus one of several possible takeaways from this article.

While some in media may never report on the above about MHI, the evidence is there for all to see. The reason it matters is because there is an affordable housing crisis and numbers are being denied the ability to buy a home that they can afford. Who says? See information from the NAHB and others that is linked below.

33) That's one reason why using AI can be useful. If used properly, AI can be a fresh set of eyes used to probe issues that sometimes mainstream or specialized media may not want to go for a variety of reasons.

34) Tim Williams and those other MHI board members that voted to keep Jennison may have thought it was a show of strength to stick with their guns and hold to their hand picked staff leaders.

But by digging in their heels, they have also exposed themselves. IMHO, they blew it and by now they know they painted themselves into a corner. Again, Gemini AI shed light on all of that and more.

35) Back to BLM. If a modest sized media operation like ours could figure out which way was up with BLM, larger media obviously could have done so years ago too. There is a sad history of some (not all) in media using illusions to mislead the public. Malcom X said it well nearly 60 years ago.

Wow.

36) Folks, as a multiple award-winning history buff, I can tell you that for over a century, Americans were subjected to often terrible deceptions.

That's why we all need a routine reality check. God help us, and many believe, that God is preparing people for a revivalof historic proportions in the U.S. and beyond. Who would have believed 20 years ago that we'd be working to keep men out of women's bathrooms, locker rooms and sports?
