Christopher E. Holland, 19, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 1:04 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2016, for unlawful possession of alcohol, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest or detention. Officers were sent to Branch Turnpike for a noise complaint coming from one of the apartments. Dispatch stated that the caller believed there were underage people drinking in the apartment. When they arrived, they saw a man standing near a green fence across the street from the apartments, appearing to relieve himself on the ground. One of the officers recognized the man – Holland – from previous contacts, and ran his name through dispatch. “As (the officer) called his name into dispatch, Christopher asked us how we knew his name and demanded to know if there were any open cases with his name on it,” the reporting officer alleged. “I informed him I did not know at this time. In speaking with Christopher I could see that he had glassy blood shot eyes and smelt heavily of an alcoholic beverage.” The officer asked him what he was doing by the fence and Holland reportedly stated that he was looking at his cellphone that he dropped in the snow while cutting through the parking lot via the green fence. The officer countered that he was holding a cellphone and Holland reportedly stated that it was a relative’s phone he was looking for. The officer went back to the area to look for the missing cell but didn’t find one. While looking for it, the officer asked Holland how much he had had to drink, since he smelled like alcohol. Holland consented to a portable breath test. Holland allegedly blew a 0.158. Holland was told he would be placed in handcuffs, given a summons, and would be released to a sober party, if they could find one. As they walked over to the apartments so he could be released to a relative, Holland allegedly became uncooperative, and began resisting and begged to be let go. He allegedly became irate and started kicking, trying to break free, and he was held against the hood of the car until he calmed down. Holland was then arrested, was allegedly combative during the booking process, and later, taken to the Merrimack County House of Corrections.
