Adeline L. Bynum, 33, of Wood Street in Bristol, Rhode Island, was arrested at 8:50 a.m. on Aug. 5 on simple assault, willful concealment, and resisting arrest or detention charges. Officers were sent to Walmart on Loudon Road for a report of a “completely naked woman” in a bathroom. About 15 minutes before, other officers, at the store investigating an unrelated matter, were asked to check the bathroom after employees spoke about a possible overdose in the ladies' bathroom. They spoke with a woman who was having problems and determined the employees were just concerned with her “acting strangely.” The two new officers heard a woman “chanting and rambling” in a language they did not recognize. An affidavit stated the officers took the woman into protective custody due to her “animated” mannerisms and refusal to acknowledge officers repeatedly. The officers found the woman was wearing clothes with price tags that appeared to be have been stolen, the report said, as well as ripped open packages of underwear and other items. After a review of her criminal record, Bynum was arrested and taken to Concord Hospital for health or drug treatment. At the hospital, she was accused of refusing to exit the police cruiser, “continuing her incoherent yelling,” as well as struggling. Later, Bynum was accused of kicking an officer in the face. She was then restrained and driven straight to county and held without bail.
