CONCORD, NH — Christopher L. Couch, 24, of Windermere Drive in Epsom, was arrested at 5:46 a.m. on May 5 on a bench warrant as well as endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of simple assault, two counts of domestic violence-simple assault, and two criminal mischief charges. Officers were sent to North Spring Street for a report of a disturbance. A woman accused Couch of assaulting her as well as destroying her house, according to an affidavit. When police arrived, they spoke to the woman, who was "visibly upset" and injured, and searched the home for Couch, who was not inside, a report stated. The woman accused him of busting down a bedroom door, hitting her in the face, and pushing her, an affidavit stated. The woman accused Couch of drinking heavily the night before and then, in the morning, urinating and vomiting on a living room carpet. She accused him of breaking a flower vase and then attacking her, the affidavit stated. Police noted the damaged items and vomit on the floor. The officer also spoke to other witnesses who confirmed what the woman said. Police contacted Couch and asked him to come to police headquarters for questioning, which he did, the report stated. They accused him of admitting to drinking Twisted Teas for about 12 hours and then later, changing his story, and saying he only drank around four. Couch counter-claimed, however, the woman attacked him after complaining about a broken vase. Couch denied busting in a door and said the fight started on a couch. But when asked about the woman and witnesses who said he had entered a bedroom, "he recanted and said it was possible" that people fell into the bedroom. The affidavit stated Couch denied breaking anything. An officer took photos of scratches and cuts that he had, adding in the report that they looked like they came from splintered wood from a broken door, the report stated. Couch was then arrested and held without bail.
