Massachusetts Man Injured During Interstate 93 Crash: New Hampshire State Police Roundup

CONCORD, NH — A man from Massachusetts was injured with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Salem on Wednesday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., state police and Salem fire and rescue teams and police were sent to a report of a crash on the southbound side of Interstate 93 around Mile Marker 1.4. Troopers found the vehicle, a 2016 Lexus IS-300, left the road and split in half after striking several trees, Tyler Dumont, the public information officer for the department, said.
The driver Fredi Lopez De Leon, 22, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was med-flighted to Boston, MA, with life-threatening injuries.

According to an investigation, Lopez De Leon was accused of driving north and speeding when he left the road and crashed.
“Crews from the Salem Fire Department also responded and extracted Lopez De Leon from the vehicle before rushing him to the Salem High School field complex,” Dumont said.

From there, he was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
Assisting troopers were Salem police, Salem firefighters, and the NH Department of Transportation. One lane of the highway was closed for about two hours.
All aspects of the crash remain under investigation, Dumont said.
