CONCORD, NH — A motorcyclist from Manchester died after a collision with a truck in Windsor on Saturday, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Around 6 p.m., troopers were sent to the 2nd New Hampshire Turnpike for a report of a motorcyclist being thrown from a bike after crashing into a pickup truck pulling out of a driveway. The 2004 Chevrolet 2500 truck, being driven by Paul Sousa Jr. of Weare, was taking a left turn when Scott Richer, 55, of Manchester, who was riding on a 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, attempted to pass the truck on the left side. Richer then crashed into the truck, was thrown from the motorcycle, and became trapped underneath a trailer Sousa was hauling.

“Good Samaritans joined Sousa in raising the trailer and freeing Richer from underneath,” Tyler Dumont, a public information officer for state police, said. “Life-saving measures were then performed on Richer before he was rushed to Concord Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

Dumont said a second motorcyclist was riding with Richer at the time but left the scene before police and troopers arrived.

State police were assisted by Hillsboro police and Hillsboro and Henniker fire and rescue teams. The road was closed for about two hours.

body was recovered from the Piscataquog River on Sept. 12 in Manchester. The victim was identified as Christopher Josephson, 51, of Manchester.

“While the preliminary investigation indicates the victim died as a result of drowning,” Dumont said, “the final results of the autopsy remain pending.”

Swanzey Man Arrested On Gun Charge

State police arrested a man from Swanzey on criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest charges after a standoff with police.

State police were requested to assist Swanzey police around 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, on South Road after Ian MacNeil, 36, was accused of pointing a gun at a police officer, Dumont said.

“MacNeil then refused to exit his residence,” he said. “Throughout the overnight hours, troopers worked with Swanzey officers to encourage MacNeil to surrender.”

After about 15 hours, a K-9 apprehended him and he was arrested. He was taken to the Cheshire Medical Center for treatment related to injuries from the K-9.

Troopers and Swanzey police were also assisted by Cheshire County Sheriff's Office, Cheshire County EMS, and Swanzey Fire Department.
