Three Arrested at Newport Sobriety Checkpoint
NHSP, local police conducted a DWI enforcement on Route 11/Route 103 last night and this morning.

NEWPORT, NH — New Hampshire State Police troopers along with local Newport Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint that resulted in the arrest of three people, according to NHSP. The checkpoint was held from 9 p.m. on Sept. 3, until 3 a.m. this morning.
Arrested were:
- Daniel Thurston, 34 of Claremont, for driving while intoxicated, operating after suspension and disobeying a police officer.
- Kristoffer Paine, 28, of Sunapee, for operating after suspension.
- Noah Crosby, 31, of Claremont, for operating after suspension.

According to state police, 172 vehicles and operators were screened during the checkpoint.

“The New Hampshire State Police, Colonel Robert Quinn and the Newport Police Chief James Burroughs as well as the officers of their departments consider the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers to be a top priority,” said Staff Sgt. Jayson S. Almstrom of Troop C. “They will continue to collaborate and utilize sobriety checkpoints and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire's roadways.”
