NORWALK, CT — Tucked into an inlet on the South Norwalk waterfront is a journey to Long Island Sound that examines the body of water not only as "an Estuary of National Significance," but a significant part of Connecticut's past, present and future.

The Maritime Aquarium has 75 live exhibits featuring more than 7,000 animals. It's journey on Long Island Sound begins along a freshwater river and the shallow waters of the salt marsh, then moves into deeper and deeper habitats out to the open ocean.

Vintage vessels grace the docks, showing off Connecticut's rich past in the oyster industry and other fisheries.
