UPDATE: East Haven Election Results: Carfora Is Reelected

Democratic Mayor Joseph A. Carfora beat Republican Salvatore Maltese. Meanwhile, Wednesday morning, no official results yet from the state.

EAST HAVEN, CT —The polls closed in East Haven and voters reelected Democratic Mayor Joseph A. Carfora to a second term by a more than 2 to 1 margin.

The unofficial results, including absentee ballots, are Carfora with 4,208 votes and Republican Salvatore Maltese with 1,866 votes.

Carfora spoke to Patch after he won the race.

"I am honored to gain the confidence of East Haven again. To be asked to lead my hometown is an awesome responsibility and one that I will not take lightly," Carfora said. "My team has been given a mandate, and with it, we intend to act responsibly."

Yet to come are the results for Town Clerk, and Town Council, Board of Education and Board of Finance members. As of 11 p.m. Tuesday night, the unofficial results had Democrats sweeping the Board of Education and Board of Finance races.

As of 10 a.m., Secretary of State Denise Merrill announced that it's been as yet unable to display election results.

“The election night reporting system has a technical issue affecting the display of results, but all of the results are tallied and entered into the election night reporting system locally. All of the results that have been entered thus far are safely and securely stored on the system, but are not currently being displayed. The third-party vendor that manages the reporting system is working right now to display the results as soon as possible. If anyone is interested in getting specific results while we work to fix the issue, please email elections@ct.gov and we will get you what you are looking for as soon as we can.”

The choice for Town Clerk are Democrat Lisa Balter and Republican Stacy Gravino.


The choices for Board of Education are Democrats Patricia (Tia) DePalma, Dominic Milano, Erika Santino-Santiago, Michele DeLucia, Karyn Putney, and Jack Stacey and Republicans Jennifer DiLungo, Michael B. Enders, Lynn A. Torello, Thomas Hennessey, James R. Roaix, Jr. and Bildon L. Francis.


The choices for Board of Finance are Democrats Richard A. DePalma, Christopher M. Perdo, Alfred Purzycki, and Richard Espositio and Republicans Ralph (Butch) Mannochi, Anthony J. Vigliotti, Ralph J. Vitale, and Beth Purcell.


The choices for Town Council are:

District 1 Democrats Beth Capotorto, Kimberly Glassman, and Ashley Lesco and Republicans David C. Gerse, Ken McKay, and Bob Parente. Vote for up to three.

District 2 Democrats Karen A. Martin, Joe Santino, and Joe Deko and Republicans Luann Scarpellino, Sue Colangelo, and Bob Redente.

District 3 Democrats Louis G. Pacelli, Marianne Cesare, and Josh Balter and Republicans Bill Richardson, Donna M. Richo and Jeff Surprenant.

District 4 Democrats Susan C. Stacey, Michael Ginnetti, and Rebecca Mickelson and Republicans Linda Hennessey, Robert Ranfone, and Samantha A. Parlato.

District 5 Democrats Jennifer Ruggiero, Ray D. Pompano, and Albert Vollono and Republicans Bryan C. Surprenant, Joan Adamczyk, and Loria Jaffe.
