CONCORD, NH — No charges have been filed against a teen from Massachusetts after being accused of driving into the path of a tractor-trailer truck in Portsmouth, which later caused the truck to crash on Friday.
Around 2 p.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to Mile Marker 14.8 on Interstate 95 south for a report of an overturned 2012 Freightliner truck blocking several traffic lanes after a crash with a 2016 Honda Pilot. The truck was overturned and perpendicular in the road, blocking both the north and south lanes, Amber Lagace, the public information officer for state police, said.
The driver of the Pilot, 16, of Amesbury, MA, entered the highway at Exit 7 and “merged onto the highway into the path of the Freightliner. This caused a 46-year-old driver from Haverhill, MA, “to take evasive actions.” This led to the Freightliner “striking the center dividing guardrail causing the truck and trailer to overturn,” Lagace said.
