Students, Parents Hold Drive-By Parade To Honor Arlington Teacher

Arlington County students and their parents held a drive-by parade to honor their third-grade teacher at McKinley Elementary School. Almost a dozen cars drove by the home of Amanda Herr, honking their horns and holding signs outside their car windows, to show their appreciation for Herr as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Drive-By Parade Planned For Herndon WWII Veteran's 100th Birthday

The local Veterans of Foreign Wars is honoring a significant milestone for one Herndon veteran. The VFW is throwing Robert "Bob" Shawn a drive-by parade to make the occasion of his 100th birthday.

VA Governor To Ease Coronavirus Restrictions Starting May 15

With declining hospitalizations across the state and increased coronavirus testing capability, Virginia is planning to start the first of three phases of reopening certain businesses and other activities on Friday, May 15, Gov. Ralph Northam said Monday at a news conference in Richmond.

DC Positive Coronavirus Cases Tops 5,300; Total Deaths 264

The D.C. Health Department confirmed six new deaths Tuesday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 264. D.C. Health also confirmed 152 new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the overall total to 5,322.

Court Gives Loudoun Towns Permission To Push Back Elections

The Supreme Court of Virginia has granted the requests of the towns of Lovettsville, Middleburg and Purcellville to move their municipal elections to Thursday, June 4 in response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The towns of Hamilton and Round Hill, which did not join the other towns in requesting an extension, are still scheduled to hold their municipal elections on Tuesday, May 19.

ABC Stores Reopen In Northern Virginia: Coronavirus

Culpeper Officers Test Positive After Handling Domestic Assault

Two Culpeper Police Department officers tested positive for the coronavirus Saturday after responding to a domestic assault incident earlier in the week, the police department said Monday. The police officers became symptomatic Saturday and were tested later that day. They are now self-isolating at home.
