John Joshua Jellue, 25, of Concord was arrested at 11:56 p.m. on March 10 on a felony criminal mischief charge. Around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 23, police were sent to the area of the Wow Chicken Arcade for a report of a disturbance. The reporting officer spoke to two women who claimed to see a Black man grab a sign from a nearby nail shop, drag it up the street, and throw it into the window of the arcade, the report said. The witnesses drove up the street and began recording the man as he walked north away from the incident, an affidavit stated. Later, a state trooper was flagged down, she said. The officer viewed the video — and reported seeing a Black man, walking north, and flipping them the bird. The window of the arcade was also smashed and the nail salon on the ground, too, the officer said. The owner of the building was called and estimated the damage to be around $2,000. The officer spoke to a relative of the owner of the building who identified the suspect in the video as Jellue — since he was at the chicken joint and hookah bar nearby “frequently,” an affidavit said. Concord and state police searched the area but were unable to find anyone. About an hour and 15 minutes later, another officer and a Bow police officer (due to lack of available Concord officers) were called to Jennings Drive for a report of a man, wearing all black, “acting belligerently.” Jellue, the report said, was “detained” due to “his level of intoxication” but released later. The officer from the arcade call realized Jellue lived on Jennings Drive and asked to see photos of him. The reporting officer accused Jellue of wearing the same clothes as the person in the incident at the arcade, the affidavit stated. The reporting officer spoke with the Bow officer about the case and confirmed Jellue was “extremely intoxicated” and was wearing the same clothes, the report said. On Jan. 26, Jellue was interviewed and said he was mad at a “buddy” and admitted to throwing the sign into the window of the arcade, the affidavit said. A warrant was then issued for his arrest on Feb. 10.
