Derek John Sikora, 37, a homeless man now located in Concord was arrested at 2:18 p.m. on Jan. 11 on stalking, simple assault, domestic violence-simple assault, and breach of bail charges. Officers were sent to Kennedy Lane and Depot Street for a report of a man grabbing a woman who appeared to be trying to get away from him. The incident, according to dispatch, occurred outside of Cheers. The caller reported the incident and then, said the two individuals were seen on North Main Street, with the man grabbing the woman again. Officers took a description of the pair and began searching downtown. Upon approach, an officer found the two people — with the woman, breaking away from the man, and walking down Odd Fellows Avenue, according to an affidavit. One officer stopped and stayed with the man, identified later as Sikora, while another officer caught up with the woman. A check of Sikora led to a bail protection order that he was not to be near the woman. The woman, an affidavit said, admitted to police that she was with Sikora and he was violating the protective order. Officers spoke with the witness who described the woman yelling, "Stop," while outside of Cheers, and saying, "Get away from me," too. The description of the man by the witness matched Sikora, the report said. "The guy kept on grabbing the woman by the arm," the witness stated. "She started to run away from him (but) he caught up to her and grabbed her by the arm." The order against Sikora was issued on Dec. 23, 2020, after he was arrested on assault and other charges.
