Alex Crowder, 31, homeless in the city of Concord was arrested at 7:04 p.m. on Dec. 28 on simple assault, criminal trespass, resisting arrest or detention charges. According to an affidavit, around 5:45 p.m., officers were sent to Cheers on Depot Street after a complaint about a man who would not leave the premises. The complainant said the man was "acting strange" and eventually had to be forcefully removed from the restaurant, the report said. The reporting officer said, based on the description, he believed the man in question was Crowder — something that was confirmed after viewing security footage at the establishment. The officer accused Crowder of "swinging around a decorative fishing pole," knocking down a shark, and being asked to leave "several times," the affidavit said. It was learned later that three different reports during the day had been taken by officers at Sun Bright Laundry, Irving on Sheep Davis Road, and Cumberland Farms on Manchester Street ranging from disturbances and behavioral issues to a store theft and a report of him dancing in the middle of the street, the affidavit said. The reporting officer received the OK to arrest Crowder for criminal trespass. At just before 7 p.m., the officer was on Loudon Road when a second officer reported seeing Crowder near the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. After speaking to him about the incidents, none which Crowder denied, according to the affidavit, he was told to put his hands behind his back but refused. "I didn't commit any crimes," he reportedly stated. The two officers attempted to take him into custody but he was accused of resisting and was taken to the ground. The reporting officer accused Crowder of continuing to struggle even after being told he would be Tased. The reporting officer then Tased Crowder but he was accused of continuing to resist. The officer attempted to Tase him again but Crowder grabbed the officer and the Taser causing it to discharge into the pavement, the affidavit said. Eventually, the officers were able to get Crowder into handcuffs. He bail was set at $1,500 cash and he was taken to county and held. Crowder, according to superior court records, has a number of active cases including a robbery charge out of Manchester after an incident in August, a burglary, trespass, threat, and prowling case in Concord from April 2019, and a reckless conduct deadly weapon case out of Manchester from August 2014 that have been impeded due to competency hearings and other court proceedings.
