CONCORD, NH — A man from the Queen City is facing his sixth drunken driving charge after a chase with state troopers early Monday morning.

Around 12:45 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police received a report about a driver dangerously traveling through a construction zone in Bedford and then, nearly colliding with a construction vehicle before continuing north on Interstate 293. A state trooper captain was working a detail at the construction site as the vehicle passed by, according to Tyler Dumont, a public information officer for state police.

The driver, later identified as Rodolfo Ramirez Romero, 26, of Manchester, was accused of refusing to stop. After a brief chase, he stopped near the top of the Exit 6 offramp and was arrested, Dumont said.

“Ramirez Romero was out on bail from another DWI arrest made by State Police in May,” he said.

In this instance, Ramirez Romero was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, disobeying an officer, driving with a suspended license, driving while being a certified habitual offender, aggravated DWI, and two counts of breach of bail. He also had an electronic bench warrant for failure to appear in court.

Ramirez Romero refused bail and was held pending a future arraignment date in Manchester District Court.

Anyone with additional information that could assist in the investigation was asked to contact Trooper Edward Perciballi at 603-223-4381 or Edward.M.Perciballi@dos.nh.gov.

Around 3:45 a.m., a Subaru Impreza sedan was reported burning after crashing. The car was fully involved, Trooper Nicole Stone of state police said in a statement.

Once extinguished, it was determined the driver was the only person in the car and they had died.

“After reviewing the scene, it did not appear that anyone else was involved in the crash,” she said.

The road between Brown Road and Parsonage Road was closed for around four and a half hours, Stone said.

State troopers were assisted by the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and Hampton Falls fire and rescue teams.

Speed appears to be a factor in this crash, however all aspects are still under investigation, she said.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact Trooper Patrick Vetter at Patrick.R.Vetter@dos.nh.gov, or State Police Dispatch at 603-223-4381.
