CONCORD, NH — A man from Milford was arrested on several charges on Oct. 13 after a wrong-way drunken driving incident in Londonderry and Manchester.

Around 9:15 p.m., New Hampshire State Police received reports a silver sedan was traveling north on the southbound side of Interstate 93 in Londonderry. In the initial report, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department, said, the car entered the highway at Exit 5.

“As troopers were responding to the area, additional calls were received reporting that multiple vehicles had been forced off the roadway in the area of Mile Marker 17,” she said.

One driver, a man from Medford, Massachusetts, was uninjured in a collision with the guardrail — “which was the result of an evasive maneuver to avoid a head-on collision with the wrong-way vehicle,” Lagace said.

The wrong-way driver continued until Mile Marker 18.8 when the vehicle was forced to stop by troopers, a report said. The driver, Douglas Lippert, 54, of Milford, was taken to Elliot Hospital for treatment due to a crash during the incident. He was arrested later on driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct, conduct after an accident, and reckless driving charges.

3 Injured During Route 16 Crash

Several people were injured after a four-vehicle crash on Route 16 in Dover on Oct. 15.

State police were sent to Mile Marker 7 in Dover, just north of the toll plaza, after receiving reports about the crash around 10:30 a.m. at a construction site.

The first vehicle, a Subaru WRX sedan, driven by Christos Kolegue-Spalaris, 24, of Newfields, who also had a juvenile passenger in the vehicle with him, “did not appear to slow down for the traffic backup,” Lagace said. The sedan crashed into the back of a Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Ann Mayranen, 57, of Sanbornville. This caused the Chrysler to crash into a GMC Yukon, driven by Christopher Ellis, 41, of Dover, she said. The Yukon crashed into a Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Renee Cooper, 54, of Somersworth.

Mayranen was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital after being extricated from her vehicle. Kolegue-Spalaris and the juvenile were taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital “for precautionary reasons,” Lagace said. Ellis and Cooper were not injured and cleared, she said.

Dover fire and rescue teams, police, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation all assisted at the crash. The southern side of the highway was closed for around 45 minutes.

“Distraction appears to be a factor in the crash; however, all aspects of this case remain under investigation,” Lagace said.

State police are requesting that anyone who may have information about the incident should contact Trooper Seth Parker at Seth.W.Parker@dos.nh.gov.
