ENFIELD, CT — As 2020 comes to a close, it will be forever remembered as one of the strangest, most disruptive years in history. However, throughout the year, memories of Enfield in days past were revived on a weekly basis, via the Picture Enfield - Then And Now column on Patch.

A wide variety of historical images were presented during the past year: institutions like Shaker Park, Hayden Wayside Furniture, E.C. Allen's, Javorski's and Moore Rug; long-gone retailers like Hartley & White, Gateway Foods, Lee's Variety and Crichton's; automotive outlets like Egan Motors, Knight's Garage and Dominick Auto Parts; and restaurants such as Hotzy's and Eugene's.

Picture Enfield - Then And Now has become one of the most popular features on Enfield Patch. More than 90,000 views were recorded on that column alone during the year, averaging nearly 2,000 readers per week.

Who is he?" The answer: Hubert Santos, standing at far right. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1969, and from 1972 to 1974, he served as a federal public defender in the United States District Court. He has been in private practice since 1974, and is one of the best-known criminal defense attorneys in the state. The first person to provide the correct answer was Arnie Grimaldi.
