2nd Alert Issued For NH Felon Douglas Smith: Trooper Roundup

CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals' New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is joining the New Hampshire State Police in trying to locate a potentially armed and dangerous fugitive wanted on numerous arrest warrants in multiple jurisdictions. State police, who issued an alert asking the public for help finding Douglas C. Smith Jr. in January on two felony domestic violence warrants, issued another alert Sunday for Smith's arrest. Smith, who is 31, is "wanted on numerous outstanding arrest warrants from multiple jurisdictions," according to Lt. Michael Kokoski of Troop C.

"Subsequent to the aforementioned arrest warrants being obtained, Mr. Smith has knowingly concealed his location from law enforcement," Kokoski said. "In doing so, Smith has committed a new felony level offense by failing to register as a criminal-offender."

Kokoski said investigators believe "several individuals" are "actively concealing Smith’s whereabouts in an effort to hinder, prevent or delay his apprehension and prosecution." Those people are committing criminal offenses themselves, he said, and "law enforcement will aggressively pursue criminal charges against any person found to have hindered Smith's apprehension."

Smith has a long criminal history dating back close to 15 years including a felonious sexual assault conviction as well as burglary, theft, harassment, assault, violation of probation or parole and violation of protective orders, receiving stolen property, duty to inform, resisting arrest, breach of bail, and numerous driving after revocation or suspension charges between since 2018. Last year, Smith was convicted on receiving stolen property, tampering with public records-info, unsworn falsification, and commitment in default of recognizance.

Smith was also indicted on a vote fraud charge and in December 2019 was indicted on felon in possession of a weapon and reckless conduct charges after being accused of firing a gun at a motor vehicle in Warner in August 2019.

After his arrest in September in the shooting case, a number of media outlets reported that he and his wife, Ashley Smith, shared living quarters on Main Street in Grafton with Trish Haynes, a 26-year-old woman whose body was found inside of a washing machine in Grants Pond in September 2018. Haynes had just moved to the state from Florida and was last seen alive in the May 2018.

The Haynes case is still an open investigation.

Smith is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs around 250 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be living in Croydon but has also lived in Danbury, Grafton, and Warner. Eric Lato, 57, of Derry was arrested on Feb. 4 on a DUI charge and an open container violation on I-93 North in Derry.

Carey Holter, 38, of Bennington was arrested at 12:54 a.m. on Feb. 4 on driving after revocation or suspension and suspension of vehicle registration charges on the Everett Turnpike South in Nashua.

Ryan Kenney, 40, of Merrimack was arrested at 1:42 a.m. on Feb. 3 on DUI and speeding-16 to 20 mph over 65 limit charges and an open container violation on the Everett Turnpike.

Kailey Rowley, 27, of Nashua was arrested at 11 p.m. on Feb. 2 on a driving after revocation or suspension charge on I-293 South in Manchester.

Ashlee Krauss, 25, of Manchester, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 2 on an operating without a valid license charge.

Jason Verrill, 42, of Manchester was arrested at 11:54 a.m. on Feb. 2 on a driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent charge on I-93 North near Exit 4 in Londonderry.

Courtney Brenner, 26, of Concord was arrested at 2:45 a.m. on Feb. 2 on DUI and DUI-adult greater than 0.08 charges on I-293 North in Manchester.

Brendan Velez Velez, 19, of Manchester was arrested on an operating without a valid license charge on South Willow Street in Manchester at 3 a.m. on Feb. 1.

Xaydrian Vasquez, 22, of Methuen, Massachusetts, was arrested on driving after revocation or suspension and suspension of vehicle charges at 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 31 on I-93 South at the lower split in Manchester.

Amy Brown, 43, of Raymond was arrested at 5:42 p.m. on Jan. 31 on a driving after revocation or suspension charge on I-93 North in Derry.

Emmanuel Jeter, 33, of Lawrence, MA, was arrested at 5:09 p.m. on Jan. 31 on a driving after revocation or suspension charge on I-93 North in Windham.

Rebecca Joyce, 30, of Boston, MA, was arrested at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6 on an aggravated DUI-greater than 0.08, collision with serious bodily injury charge on I-93 South in Sanbornton.

David Federschneider, 39, of North Digton, MA, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 6 on a bench warrant and a driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent charge at Route 3 and Water Street in Concord.

Tessa Yapor, 23, of Manchester was arrested at 10 p.m. on Feb. 5 on a bench warrant and obstruct government administration charge on I-93 South in Bow.

Nicole Benson, 31, of Pembroke was arrested at 10:33 p.m. on Feb. 5 on DUI, DUI-adult greater than 0.08, and speeding-26+ mph over the limit of 55 or less charges after a stop on I-93 North in Concord. A Pembroke resident was also taken into protective custody.

Nathan Gonzalez, 20, of Franklin was arrested on a bench warrant at 6 p.m. on Feb. 5 on I-93 North in Hooksett.

Joseph Lombardi, 39, of Middleton, MA, was arrested on DUI and speeding-21+ mph over the 65 limit charges on I-89 South in Sutton at 5:02 p.m. on Feb. 5.

Megan Gagnon, 18, of Weare was arrested at 11:36 p.m. on Feb. 4 on driving after revocation or suspension, suspension of vehicle registration, and driving without giving proof charges on I-93 South in Canterbury.

Vincent McDermottroe, 49, of Woburn, MA, was arrested at 8:32 p.m. on Feb. 1 on DUI-second offense, driving after revocation or suspension, and disobeying an officer charges as well as an open container violation on I-93 South in Canterbury.

James Beck, 26, of Wilmot was arrested at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 on possession of a controlled drug and criminal threatening-deadly weapon charges on Shindagan Road in Wilmot.

Ashley Cox, 28, of Hopkinton, MA, was arrested at 7:26 p.m. on Feb. 1 on DUI, DUI-adult greater than 0.08, and speeding-16 to 20 mph over 65 limit charges on I-93 South in Northfield.

Sean Gibbons, 21, of Manchester was arrested at 2:25 a.m. on Feb. 1 on DUI and speeding-21+ mph over the 65 limit charges on I-93 South in Bow.

Justin Keith, 27, of Sanbornton was arrested at 1:45 a.m. on Feb. 1 on driving after revocation or suspension and suspension of vehicle registration charges on I-93 in Bow.

Jonathan Warner, 37, of Center Barnstead was arrested at 2:42 p.m. on Jan. 31 on Terrill Park Drive in Concord on DUI and DUI-adult greater than 0.08 charges.
