Nathaniel W. Liberty, 36, of Adonis Court in Concord, was arrested at 1:08 a.m. on Aug. 14 on criminal threatening, domestic violence-criminal threatening, and breach of bail charges. Police were sent to the area of Alder Creek and Woodbine to speak to a woman who accused Liberty of locking her out of her home. The officer met with the woman, who was upset and shaking, and said she came home after working late and as she attempted to enter her home, Liberty “stood in the doorway to prevent her from entering the residence.” She accused him of being intoxicated and “out of his mind,” the report stated. Liberty was accused of yelling and screaming at her so she left. She returned about 15 minutes later and he continued to keep her from entering the home, with an affidavit stating he was still upset and said to her, “Let’s f------ go.” Liberty “ran at her and proceeded to chase her off the property,” the affidavit stated. She said she felt threatened and accused Liberty of assaulting her in the past when he was intoxicated, the affidavit stated. The woman was able to run away from Liberty and after hiding behind some trees, she called police. Officers went to the home to speak to Liberty. The reporting officer accused him of running down to the front door, slamming it, and appearing “agitated.” The officer accused him of emanating a strong odor of alcohol, being sweaty and barefoot, and breathing heavily. The officer reported a cut on the man’s foot that was actively bleeding. Liberty, the report said, claimed the couple got into an argument about drinking and she ran off. When asked about the cut, Liberty said he probably got it when he “came back inside,” according to the affidavit. The watch commander informed officers Liberty was out on bail after being arrested for driving under the influence in Northwood in February. One of his bail conditions was that he stay sober. Liberty was then arrested, a bail commissioner ordered him held on preventive detention, and he was taken to the county jail.
