CONCORD, NH — A Poughkeepsie, New York, truck driver was cited for negligent driving Wednesday after a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 95. New Hampshire State Police were sent to North Hampton around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a truck blocking part of the highway after crashing into the center median. Troopers learned the driver, James Maroulis, 60, was traveling south, lost control of the truck, and crashed, with the truck crossing into the northbound lane, according to Lt. John Hennessey of Troop A.

"After losing control, the tractor-trailer traveled through the snow-covered center median into the northbound lanes with Maroulis now steering back into the center median to avoid any northbound traffic," Hennessey said. "The force of this second impact with the snow embankment and the truck coming to a sudden stop dislodged the cargo causing it to rupture the trailer walls."

Parts of I-95 were closed for about three hours during the cleanup and removal. No other vehicles were involved in the accident and Maroulis was not injured. He was, however, cited, for negligent driving after state police "determined (his) level of fatigue caused him to lose control over his vehicle."
