CONCORD, NH — A woman from Walpole was injured while trying to pass another vehicle during a storm on Saturday in Westmoreland.

Around 4:45 p.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to Aldridge Road for a crash between a Mercury Grand Marquis and a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck. The driver of the Mercury, Katey L. Young, 34, was traveling north behind the truck, being driven by a Claremont teen.

“Young attempted to pass (the teen) and their vehicles collided, causing Young to lose control and drive off the south side of the roadway,” Amber Lagace, a public information officer for state police, said. “Young struck an embankment, causing her vehicle roll over onto its roof.”

The teen also lost control of his vehicle and it sustained disabling damage from the collision with Young’s vehicle, she said.

Young was taken by ambulance to the Cheshire Medical Center with a serious but non-life-threatening injury. The teen was not injured during the crash.

“The crash remains under investigation and it is being treated as a road rage incident,” she said.

One lane was open, the other was shut down, and the Mercury was removed from the crash scene.

Lagace said troopers were assisted by the Westmoreland Fire Department, the Keene Ambulance, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

Box Truck Crashes In Grantham

State troopers were sent to an early morning box truck crash Wednesday on Interstate 89.

According to Lagace, the truck, traveling in the right lane, approached a turn and swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway.

“As a result,” she said, “the truck struck the right-hand guardrail for approximately 100 feet, damaging the guardrail, and came to rest down the embankment.”

The driver was uninjured in the crash and was evaluated at the scene by Grantham fire and rescue teams. I-89 and the right lane were shut down for an extended period to remove the truck safely.

Along with NH DOT and Grantham firefighters, Patten’s Towing also assisted.

Gorham Man Airlifted To Hospital After Crash

A man from Gorham was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center by helicopter after a severe crash in Woodstock Monday.

State police were sent to Interstate 93 south to investigate a crash involving Zachary Gunther, 38, of Gorham, who was accused of passing vehicles at a high rate of speed on the highway. Lagace said he “lost control” of a 1999 Toyota Camry and rolled it during the incident.

Gunther was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital and then airlifted by DHART to Dartmouth-Hitchcok.

“Gunther was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash,” Lagace said. “Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributors to the crash.”

Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Woodstock Police Department, Linwood Ambulance, and Woodstock Fire Department.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information was asked to contact Trooper Coppin at Connor.M.Coppin@dos.nh.gov.
