Woodbridge reported 52 new positive cases on Friday, the highest number of positive cases reported since the outbreak first began.
Some facilities are reporting very high numbers: The New Jersey Veterans Home at Menlo Park, for example, has 86 cases and 25 deaths.
"We just do not want people to think there are almost 800 Woodbridge residents still sick from the virus," said Mayor John McCormac.
Woodbridge saw 35 new cases Monday. Compare that to last week, when the Twp. was seeing around 80 new cases a day.
Woodbridge saw only 21 reported cases of coronavirus Sunday and another 19 Monday, bringing the town's total case number to 699.
The virus victims are both 48-year-old men; one was a Woodbridge DPW employee and the other a high school principal who lived in Colonia.
As of Thursday, the total coronavirus cases in Woodbridge rose to 131, with an 85-year-old local woman who died.
As of Wednesday, April 1, there are now 112 Woodbridge residents who have tested positive; only 12 of those need to be hospitalized.
If severe control measures, like strict social distancing, do not remain in place, coronavirus cases could top 62,000 in Middlesex County.
