VERNON, CT — This week's Hidden Gem is a group arrangement. The trip takes us to three towns in north central Connecticut.

Yes .... there are now three bottle and can redemption centers in the region, all tucked into little corners of industrial parks in Vernon, South Windsor and Windsor.

The Vernon location is at 77 Industrial Park Road. The South Windsor location at 65 Mascolo Road and the Windsor outlet is at 77 Pierson Lane.

The centers feature automated counters that can tally hundreds of returnables in seconds. They accept Connecticut 5-cent deposit plastics, cans, and glass bottles — including all store brands and microbrews.
