Kevin Gobeil, 27, of High Street in Pembroke was arrested at 6:48 a.m. on June 5 on a theft by unauthorized taking charge, a felony due to two prior convictions. Around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 27, police were sent to Cumbies for a past tense theft involving an unauthorized use of a debit card. The complainant reported staying with a man and letting that man use his debit card. He asked for it back a week later. Earlier that day, he received an alert that $125.75 had been taken out of his account from an ATM at the store at around 2:45 p.m. The man who was using the card denied withdrawing the money. The victim requested police look at the footage to see who used the card. On March 5, Cumberland Farms submitted video footage to police. The officer distributed pictures from the video and another officer said it was Gobeil, the affidavit stated. The officer also spoke to a witness on March 25, who said they thought it was Gobeil using his card, the report said, and did not know it was another person’s card or that a third person had access to it. A check of Gobeil's record found prior theft incidents, so a felony warrant was issued against him on June 3 and he was arrested later.
