McCormack, 44, of 4th Range Road in Pembroke was arrested at 1:04 a.m. on Oct. 7 on driving under the influence, felony possession of a controlled drug, and transport drugs in a motor vehicle charges as well as an open container violation. An officer patrolling the area of 67 S. Main St. saw a person slumped in the driver’s seat of a silver Chevrolet Equinox, with her chin against her chest, according to an affidavit. The officer went to investigate and found the vehicle’s engine running, a woman who was motionless, and two open cans of Twisted Tea on the center console, the report said. The officer knocked on the window and woke the woman up. The officer wrote in an affidavit, “As the female moved, I saw a small clear Ziplock plastic bag on the seat between the female’s leg. The plastic bag contained a small tan rock-like substance, which, based on my training and experience, was consistent with the controlled drug fentanyl.” The officer opened the SUV door and grabbed the bag of fentanyl from between the driver’s legs, the report said. The driver, McCormack, told the officer she was picking up her boyfriend when she fell asleep, the report stated. The officer accused McCormack of admitting to using the fentanyl a couple of hours before and drinking one Twisted Tea about four hours before. After field sobriety tests, she was arrested. McCormack has a dispositional conference hearing booked in Merrimack County Superior Court for Jan. 2, 2024.
James Charles St. John, 38, of Pine Meadow Road in New Hampton was arrested at 10:46 a.m. on Sept. 28 on felony identity fraud, receiving stolen property-less than $1,000, and false report to law enforcement charges. On Aug. 25, an officer saw a Ford Fusion that was backing up in the westbound lanes on Loudon Road causing other vehicles to slower down. The vehicle backed up onto Stickney Avenue and the driver appeared to be yelling something to the officer that they did not hear, the report said. After stopping, the driver opened up the hood of the vehicle while speaking to someone on a cell phone, telling the officer the transmission failed on Loudon Road. When asked for a driver’s license, the man presented one but the officer claimed it was “not consistent with the general facial features” of the driver, the report said. When asked for his birthdate, he gave the correct month and date but did not mention the year, the affidavit said. When asked what year he was born, the driver said something to the effect of, I’m sorry, I have a lot going on, the officer wrote, while rambling about other issues. When the officer told him he thought he was not being truthful, the driver presented a second license, with the name St. John, that expired in August 2013, the affidavit said. He confirmed the information and the last four of his SSI number, the report said. A check of the vehicle found a July inspection sticker that did not have watermarks but appeared to be genuine, the officer wrote, but the VIN number did not match the sticker. St. John was arrested on the charges. The officer then began investigation the man on the first license and learned from a New Hampton police sergeant that the wallet was reported stolen out of a truck at St. John’s address earlier that month, the report said. The Concord officer got a phone number of the man who had his wallet stolen. The victim said he lost a few hundred dollars and some cards during the theft. The victim confirmed knowing St. John, as he was a relative, and said he would not have permission to use his license. Later that evening, the officer reported seeing St. John pumping gas at the Cumbies on North Main Street and went to speak to him. St. John was accused of claiming the family member allowed him to use his license. A warrant was then issued for his arrest the next day. St. John failed to appear at an arraignment in Merrimack County Superior Court concerning the case on Nov. 2 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
