Initially Glowing AInvest Report on Announced Cavco Industries-American Homestar deal Gob Smacked by Aime
Cavco Industries (CVCO) and Manufactured Housing Institute asked to Respond to Regulatory and Antitrust Allegations raised by Aime Remarks
As anyone who has professionally used artificial intelligence (AI) for over two years on a near daily basis can tell you not all AI platforms are the same. Additionally, even better AI platforms can make mistakes, which is why human supervision is necessary. Even with human involvement, if that person checking AI for possible oversights or errors is not an expert in a specialized field, such as manufactured housing, then errors can still slip in. Ironically, several of those points are made in a detailed deep dive on MHProNews regarding the 7.14.2025 announced plan by prominent Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) member Cavco Industries (CVCO) to acquire American Homestar for a reported $190 million dollars in cash.
Aime is part of the 'proprietary' AI system that AInvest says writes reports like the one on the Cavco-American Homestar announcement. The AInvest article “Cavco Industries Acquires American Homestar: A Strategic Play for Dominance in Undervalued Manufactured Housing” might be described as a near-press release like fawning or glowing about the $190 million dollar deal.
But after information was provided to Aime, the AI system began to change its tune. First, let's note what Cavco said in their press release.

AInvest had previously said: "Cavco’s acquisition is a strategic win in a sector primed for growth" and "The manufactured housing sector is no longer an afterthought—it’s a cornerstone of the American housing market. Cavco’s move to acquire American Homestar is a masterclass in capitalizing on undervalued assets and positioning for dominance in a $25 billion industry." But as noted above, AI generates the reports on AInvest, which may not have had any human oversight.
Per the “Aime” AI powered chatbot: “In summary, the existing info is insufficient because it lacks details on the SEC settlement, [Samuel] Strommen’s thesis, and the monopolization claims.”
The photo-like picture above is based in part on an AI generated image. Cavco Industries, the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR), and David Goch, and outside attorney for MHI, have all been asked to respond to the article that was critiqued by Aime and by Bing's AI powered Copilot, which appears to have significantly better understanding of manufactured housing than Aime initially did. Let's note that after doing multiple reviews, Aime said that MHProNews/MHLivingNews are the "gold standard" for accurate and independent manufactured housing industry reporting.
