Christopher M. Cooper, 24, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested on a warrant at 12:59 p.m. on Oct. 25 as well as resisting arrest or detention after an incident at CVS on Hall Street and a receiving stolen property, $1,001 to $1,500, charge. On Aug. 23, two people from Manchester Street called the police to report a stolen cellphone, and they believed Cooper was a suspect, according to an affidavit. Cooper, they told the officer, had just been released from prison and was one of their friends, the report said. Cooper was accused of leaving the home around noon to go and see an uncle. About two hours later, the person realized their $1,300 iPhone in an $80 case was missing. No one else had been in the home. On Sept. 2, a police detective told the officer they had received a hit on the phone after it was sold to an EcoATM machine at Walmart on Loudon Road. The officer spoke to a customer service representative from the company, and they said the phone had already been picked up, but it would be flagged. She also submitted the information of who sold the phone to the police, a 36-year-old Concord man. Two officers went to Eastern Avenue to speak to the Concord man and his girlfriend, who accused Cooper of asking him to sell it due to not having an ID. The man said he got $70 for the phone, and Cooper gave him $10 for gas money, an affidavit said, adding Cooper was “right with him when he sold the phone and was likely in the pictures from the machine.” The man and his girlfriend offered written statements, the report said, and reported Cooper was staying on Asby Road. The officer later confirmed there was a second man in the picture. On Sept. 7, EcoATM sent the iPhone to the police as evidence. The officer went to Asby Road to try and find Cooper, but he was no longer staying at the home. A couple there said they believed he was staying in one of the city’s homeless camps, they told the officer. On Sept. 26, the officer viewed surveillance footage at the EcoATM machine and confirmed via previous booking photos that Cooper was with the other man as he submitted the phone to the machine, the affidavit said. A warrant was issued on Oct. 13.
