Paul C. Aldrich, 32, of Hall Street in Manchester was arrested at 5:25 p.m. on April 16 on felony drug possession and possession of marijuana-three-quarters or less violation. An officer saw an uninspected Hyundai Sonata pulling out of Cumbies on Manchester Street and noted the two men inside “stared at me as they left the parking lot.” The officer ran the plate, found it was owned by Aldrich, who had an active no bail county warrant from 48 hours before. After checking his NH DMV photo, the officer realized Aldrich was driving the car, an affidavit stated. The vehicle was pulled over near Manchester Street and Old Turnpike Road after dispatch confirmed the warrant. Other officers also arrived to assist. Aldrich was asked to step out of the vehicle, and while doing so, the officer saw he had a pistol at his feet as well as a baggie of marijuana on the front driver’s seat door change pocket, an affidavit said. Aldrich was “quickly removed” and cuffed. “Aldrich told me the gun was not real because he was a felon and not allowed to own a gun,” the report said. The officer picked up the pistol — noting it had “some weight to it,” but could not remove the magazine or lock the chamber, so it was placed back into the car. During a pat down, Aldrich was accused of possessing a baggie of brown powder, believed to be fentanyl, and he uttered, “I forgot about that” when the officer removed it, the report said. The officer asked if there was cocaine in the car but Aldrich said there might be baking soda, the officer wrote. When asked if there were other drugs in the car, Aldrich said, there was not and consented to a search. “Search the whole thing,” the officer accused Aldrich of replying. The gun was determined to be a Glock BB gun and there was a burnt piece of tinfoil inside the car, the report said. Aldrich, according to superior court records, faces possession of controlled drug-heroin/fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine, and falsifying physical evidence charges, all felonies, after an incident in late January in Manchester.
