Christina D. Chevrette, 36, of Pleasant Street in Concord was arrested at 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 6 on a felony receiving stolen property-$1,501-plus charge. Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 25, during a routine patrol of the Best Western on Hall Street, an officer ran a query on a Lowe’s rental pickup truck in the parking lot and found that it was stolen on Oct. 23 out of Bedford. The officer contacted police in Bedford who accused Chevrette of being a suspect in the case. Officers requested to see surveillance video at the hotel and saw the truck drive up to the hotel parking lot and a man get out of the driver’s side and woman, who was a passenger, exited the vehicle on Oct. 24 around 3:30 p.m. Officers then went to speak to Chevrette, who was renting a room at the hotel. When questioned, Chevrette said she rented the truck “a few days ago” but it began to have engine issues and would not run, an affidavit said. The officer accused her of saying she tried to contact Lowe’s but just had trouble getting the truck back to them. When asked about the last time she drove the vehicle, Chevrette said that morning, the report stated. When the officer asked her about the vehicle starting that morning, Chevrette said the truck runs but just sounds like something was wrong with the engine, the affidavit said. The officer also questioned the man about the truck and while doing so, Lowe’s came to pick it up. The Lowe’s employee said the truck was rented for 90 minutes, the report stated, and was six days overdue. When questioned again, Chevrette again said she rented it a few days ago, the report stated. When the officer told her they knew it was rented six days before, Chevrette “apologized and now said she was groggy from just waking up and needed to refresh her memory” and that she thought renting the truck meant she could “pay as she goes,” day to day, the affidavit said. The truck was valued at $30,195. According to superior court records, Chevrette failed to appear at the arraignment for this case on Dec. 2 and a notice via mail was returned. A warrant was issued for her arrest on Dec. 6.
